WW1 L1 & L2 - What Caused World War One?

Lesson 1:
A starter to discuss why countries go to war.
An overview of Europe in 1914 and a chance for students to discuss what is different vs today.
A long research activity where students use information cards in groups or as a carousal to complete key fact sheets about the countries involved in WW1, including rulers, size and power and the reasons why they might dislike other countries. This allows students to determine the tensions.
A summary task to write a report to the PM about the state of Europe in 1914.
 
Lesson 2:
A chance to go over Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism and Nationalism as the 'MAIN' reasons.
A colour-coding activity to determine events and what category they go in.
A significance circles task to determine the main reason for the war starting.
A plenary to recall knowledge from the last two lessons.
