LESSON 1:
- A small excerpt from 'Blood and Iron' about the fouding of the Republic which students use to assess the problems it faced. It helps set the lesson up.
- A discussion of how the government was created and what a constitution is.
- An activity to read some parts of the constitution to assess how democratic is really was.
- A guide to the problems the government faced including Article 48, Coalitions and Proportionate Representation. Students judge the reasons they might lead to problems.
- An opportunity to judge the problem most likely to lead to weakness.
- A plenary quiz to consolidate the knowledge.
LESSON 2:
- A starter to recall the key facts fromt he previous lesson.
- A video from YouTube to summarise the issues the government faced from within.
- A colour-coding activity assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the government.
- A plenary exam question to judge the state of the government against an interpretation, and then peer assess the answer.
